How to do lost wax casting with silicone rubber?

To put it simply, lost wax casting is to pour liquid silicone rubber into the outside of wax mold, then heat it to melt the wax inside and let the liquid wax flow out, and then inject other materials into the silicone mold, such as resin, to make the final product. This is the production process of many resin jewelry.

The above process is only suitable for materials that silicone rubber can withstand when the temperature rises very high, such as resin. The following process is suitable for materials that silicone rubber can not withstand when the temperature is high, such as gold and silver, so it is necessary to make metal molds, such as aluminum molds, to fill these ultra-high temperature materials.

For example: I now want to mass produce one style of ring

1. First draw a 3D picture of this ring, and then 3D print out the ring model of photosensitive resin

2. Then use the 3D printed resin mold to make a silicone mold, which is divided into two pieces

3. Get the silicone mold, use the automatic wax injection machine to inject the melted liquid wax into the silicone mold, press the upper and lower parts with aluminum plates, and cool the wax to solidify

4. Take out the wax mold

If you want to make rings of different sizes, some people have thin or thick fingers, repeat the previous four steps

5. Prepare a wax rod, just like the tree trunk, and hang the ring wax model obtained in 4 steps onto the tree

6. Then enclose the wax tree, which may actually be put into a casting cage

7. Prepare gypsum powder+water, about 1:40, mix evenly, vacuum, and pour into the casting cage

8. After the gypsum is solidified, put it into the dewaxing furnace, heat it to melt the wax, and let the wax flow out. Now only the gypsum outer mold is left

9. Then melt the metal material into liquid and pour it into the gypsum outer mold. After the gold is solidified, hammer out the gypsum abrasive until it is rough

10. The rough jewelry shall be carefully repaired, decontaminated and brightened, stone inlaid, polished, cleaned, marked, etc
